ABSTRACTS
This paper presents a critical and comprehensive analysis of the significant change in energy efficiency practices that happened with the use and implementation of sophisticated Energy Management Systems (EnMS), of which ISO 50001 is a notable example. To this effect, the study presents an anti-clock winding analysis of energy efficiency methodologies with profound and systematic revealed chronological advancements and innovations that form the foundation of the current best practices. Primarily, it synthesizes some lessons from previous experiences complemented by cases and research findings to explore some lessons learned while, at the same time, defining new trends and prospects in enhancing energy performance across diverse industries. The applicability and versatility of the ISO 50001 are examined and evaluated, and the standard is considered a global reference for systematic energy management, its compatibility with other systems, and its potential to be built upon in the future of energy management systems. The research is supported by quantitative data analyses that use comprehensive figures, images, equations, and statistical models to explain primary patterns, relationships, and future forecasts, stabilizing the ground for further theoretical research and practical application in energy control.
